River of Life is excited to welcome Ethiopia as one of two new nations joining the River of Life family in 2026 thus far. In October, Pastor Tong traveled to Ethiopia to meet with a group of pastors and share the vision of River of Life. During this visit, he met Pastor Amde—a young and dynamic pastor with a deep passion to serve the Lord in Ethiopia.
After receiving the vision of River of Life, Pastor Amde prayerfully decided to officially join the River of Life family in December 2025. He was formally welcomed in January 2026. Following this, he traveled to Senegal to spend time under the mentorship of Pastor Matthias, the Regional Director of Africa. While there, he learned more about the vision and core values of River of Life, and was able to participate in ministry apprenticeship and practical training in Senegal.

Pastor Amde has since returned to Ethiopia and is currently focused on building his core team through intentional one-on-one discipleship. He is also actively sharing the vision of River of Life within his community and planning evangelistic outreaches as he begins to establish River of Life in Ethiopia from the ground up.
Throughout 2026, he plans to focus on relationship-building and training his team, with the goal of officially launching ROLCC Ethiopia in 2027. Looking ahead, Pastor Amde also carries a vision to expand the River of Life movement by planting three additional churches over the next five years.

Pastor Amde comes to River of Life with over a decade of ministry experience. He has faithfully served as a pastor dedicated to teaching, leadership, and spiritual formation. Ordained with 11 years of full-time ministry, including three years in pastoral leadership, he brings together practical ministry experience and strong academic preparation in his service to the church.
Pastor Amde is married to his wife,Sorety Kebede, and they share a son, Sinkana Amdemichael.
